Operation didn't take effect

If you saved an operation but checkout still shows the incorrect result, work through these checks before contacting support.

1. Change the address before you test again

Section titled “1. Change the address before you test again”

Checkout can be slow to let go of the shipping rates and payment methods it already worked out for you — simply refreshing the page, or starting a new checkout with the same address, won’t always force it to recalculate. The easiest fix is to change the delivery address slightly before you test again; bumping the postal or zip code by one digit each time is usually enough, and it’s quicker than switching to a whole new address.

If you’ve just made a change and checkout doesn’t seem to reflect it, try this first, before working through the rest of this page.

Saving an operation stores it in Checkout Commander immediately, but checkout only reflects that change once it’s been published to Shopify. This normally happens within a second or two — watch the status shown in the app toast notification, and give it a moment if it’s still in progress.

If publishing didn’t complete, it’s for one of two reasons: something went wrong during publishing, or your App Health needs attention. Open App Health to see what happened and how to resolve it. If the reason isn’t clear, contact us with what you saw.

Open the operation’s edit form and check its status. If it is Disabled, it does not affect checkout. Turn it on and select Save.

An operation can also be saved as Disabled when you have reached your plan’s active operation allowance. Only enabled operations count toward that allowance. Disable another operation or change your plan, then enable this operation and select Save.

Every condition on an operation must pass before that operation applies — if even one doesn’t match, checkout is left unchanged. Review each condition against what checkout actually has (the country, the products in the cart, the customer’s tags, and so on), and try temporarily removing a condition to see if that’s what’s holding the operation back.

See Conditions for how conditions work and Condition types for the available condition types and operators.

Check the operation’s Action to make sure it’s configured to match what checkout actually shows — exact spelling, capitalization, and spacing all matter for most operation types. See Operations for how an operation’s action works, or the specific operation type’s own page for its matching rules.

Rename operations run after Hide operations, so a later Rename or Sort operation can see the name produced by an earlier Rename operation. See Order of operations when more than one operation affects the same checkout list.

Contact support and let us know which operation you’re working with, along with a screenshot showing what you expected and what you saw.
